In elementary school, you learned about thick and thin questions.
Thick questions require thought, analysis, and research. You will also see these questions referred to as
Open questions. (Examples: What do you think? What if? How would you feel? What if?)
Thin questions are easily answered by reviewing a resource. (Examples: When? Where? Who? How many?) You will also see these questions referred to as
Closed questions. Create thick questions about your topic. The questions you create will help guide your research. Research questions will need to be modified based upon the facts and information presented in the resources. Some questions may not be researchable; rather you will need to infer based upon the information gathered.
